    Consul General Grzegorz Morawski’s mission in Toronto is coming to an end. Yesterday’s Farewell party draw dozens of people, including representatives of Polonia organizations, politicians and co-workers who have been accompanying him in his 5 years journey in Canada.

    In his speech delivered at the event, the Consul General said that his goal had always been to work together with all organizations, being open to people’s needs despite a political or religious viewpoint. – Your presence here today ensures me that I was right, that I was a Consul of Poland and for Poles – he said. He continued by stating that the great activity and potential of Polish organizations in Canada helps to build the position and image of Poland in this country.

     

    The Consul also thanked all organizations, foundations, and people with whom he had been working during his mission in Toronto. – Without your support, it would have been so hard to do it – he said. He addressed special thanks to the Polish veterans and combatants who were fighting for Poland’s freedom during the Second World War. – I am very grateful for all that I got from you, for the true lesson of patriotism, dignity and fortitude. Your presence and attitude continuously remind me that freedom and democracy are the most important values, which you fight and sometimes die for – he continued.

     

     

    The Consul General also addressed Canadian politicians – I would like to thank Canadian politicians, too. Those on Federal and Provincial level. And I want to highlight very strongly – from all sides of the Canadian political scene. We’ve worked together with government representatives of Progressive Conservative Party, as well as Liberal Party and New Democratic Party. Thank you for your support, thank you for being with Polonia on many occasions, for celebrating with us, for perceiving the significance of Polonia, thanks for being here with me tonight – he said.

     

    Concluding his speech he said that his five years’ mission as a Consul General in Toronto had been an unforgettable experience for him. – It has been a privilege to be here in Toronto with such an amazing, active and creative Polish community. I will miss you all– he concluded.
